内容:
Carbon nanomaterial (CNM) thin films formed by single-walled carbon nanotubes (SWCNTs), graphite nanoplatelets (GNPs) and graphene show excellent piezoresistivity and promise a variety of novel sensing applications. With spray coating and direct laser writing methods, we have fabricated CNM thin films on different substrates and demonstrated their potential applications as embeddable, non-invasive, flexible, corrosion resistant, chemically inert, multi-functional and highly sensitive sensing elements in structural health monitoring as well as flexible electronics. A handful of unique methods, which include preparative ultracentrifuge method (PUM), simultaneous Raman scattering and photoluminescence spectroscopy (SRSPL), combined intrinsic viscosity, sedimentation and diffusion measurements, have been developed in our group. The new methods provide a reliable way for quantitative/semi-quantitative and in-situ structural characterization of carbon nanomaterials, which is critical for establishing the processing-structure-property-performance relationship of CNM thin films and to the understanding of their piezoresistive behavior and electrical conducting mechanisms.
